The New York Company
The New York Company of the Jamestowne Society calls the Big Apple its home. John Mauck Hilliard is Governor of this thriving Company, and you can reach him by writing to P. O. Box 207, New York, NY 10116-0207. We're fairly sure that the New York Company has been so busy that they just haven't had the time to update their webpage to tell you exactly what they're up to.
From the current posting that was here, we know that they lunched at the historic Beekman Hotel in the old Hudson River Valley town of Rhinebeck in June 1999. This was a joint venture with the NY Dames of the Court of Honor and the NY branch of the Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims. After lunch, they went to Hyde Park, the Roosevelt estate, and had a special tour of the gardens and of the mansion's interior.
In November 1999 New York Company officers carried the Jamestowne St. George's flag in the Blessing of the Flag Service at St. Thomas Episcopal Church on Fifth Avenue.
In January 2000, the same flag was carried in the funeral procession of William Willis Reese, a prominent figure in the hereditary society world of New York.
Back in October 1999, the New York Company hosted the Autumn Harvest Ball, a black-tie event at the Officers Mess of the Seventh Regiment Armory on Park Avenue. Sons and Daughters of the Pilgrims co-hosted. 90 members and guests enjoyed dining and dancing.
National Governor DeEtte Nesbitt and Companies Committee Chairperson Carolyn Kendrick Farmer were special guests of the New York and the Princeton Companies at a joint meeting on April 1, 2000 at the Princeton Club, New York City. Ms. Nesbitt and Ms. Farmer lodged at the Yale Club of New York, and were treated to a Broadway musical, fine dining, jazz, and tours of great city sights.
Summer 2000 meeting took place at the Hotel Thayer on the grounds of the United States Military Academy at West Point. This event was co-hosted with the Dames of the Court of Honor and the Pilgrims. Dr. Steve Grove, Historian of USMA, gave a multimedia presentation on the history of the Academy and the West Point area.
So now it's up to the New York Company to "fill in the gaps" and tell us what they've been up to since 2000. The New York Company is requested to obtain its own domain name, and to develop its own site, providing interesting information on all of their local activities. We know you can do it!!!
